What are some things I should do before painting?

1. The surface must be clean and dry. Loose or non-adherent paint, caulk, or dirt must be removed. Glossy paint should be scuff sanded.

2. Ask questions of your paint supplier to determine the paint that is right for your job.

3. Don't by paint based on price alone. Two coats at $12/gallon costs the same as one coat at $24/gallon.

4. Use quality roller covers and brushes. A poor quality roller cover can cause even a good gallon of paint to take two coats.

5. Check the color before your start.

6. Make sure you have enough material to finish your job and intermix buckets of the same color paint.
