Who do I call to replace my Heating and Cooling system and what equipment do you prefer?

I am looking to replace the Heating and cooling system in our home. We are thinking either a Lennox or Bryant system and the most efficient of either. In your opinion, which would be better? Also, in our area, we have many heating and cooling companies to do the job. Do you have a preference from what you have heard for whom to call? Thank you for any information you can give me on my questions. - Paul, Roseville, MI

Hi Paul,

Both manufacturers offer superior equipment, I’m using both in different locations. Carls offers Lennox which is now known to be the quietest in the business and other brands as well. To answer your question about the best HVAC company to use. There are many to pick from. When I choose a company I look at a very extensive criteria of the background of the company, the training of the employees, the knowledge of the owner and his staff, licensing and the overall attitude of how they conduct business, as well as many other points. You could almost say that it's like having the Murray Gula seal of approval. Carls is licensed in all categories including boiler work. Many other companies are not? Carls offers a ten-year no lemon warranty, meaning they will replace any faulty equipment free of charge within ten years for the equipment you've purchased from them and had them install. Thank You – Murray Gula

In our house we have heating/cooling registers installed in the floors, what is the likely indicator we have serious problem with the ductwork and not something else. The ducts smell?

The most likely indicator of a serious problem with the ductwork with in floor installation is water and/or sand got in the ductwork. You will have to have a contractor reline the ductwork with a new process that is just coming to this area. I will check to see if the company I’m thing about has started repairing underground ductwork as yet. - Murray

On a recent inspection, I observed water dripping from the entire length of the HVAC supply duckwork. What was the likely cause?

The likely cause of what you observed was poor quality or missing duct insulation. Poor ventilation and no vapor barrier can often be found in these situations as well.
