Murray I was thinking of installing a home theater system, including up to my bathroom, but I don't want the wires running everywhere. Can the remote speakers either be wireless, or hidden inside the walls? Thank You, Glenn, Ann Arbor, MI

Great question Glenn, wireless solutions have not been perfected as yet, crosstalk with other wireless household components could happen and may result in signal degredation.. As for speakers, in your walls or ceiling, they now offer great looking speakers and will rival almost any cabinet speaker when installed properly. There are many Digital televisions on the market, so a brief explanation is in order,

There a 3 grades of digital television, SDTV , EDTV, & HDTV.
Of the 3 HDTV is the highest picture quality.
SDTV can be a square sceen picture and will display 480 lines of resolution.
EDTV will be a widescreen picture and will display 480 lines of resolution
HDTV must be capable of displaying either 1080 interlaced, or 720 progressive
Lines of resolution, as well the sound carrier being Dolby Digital.
In addition there are newer sets that exceed the minimum resolution specs, 1080p
And many of those are referred to as true HD sets. - Murray

How do I get the best picture from an HDTV set ? Joice - Royal Oak, MI

There are a few things you can do, first make sure that you use the proper grade of Interconnect cable, second make sure that you are watching the right channel, many cable providers are broadcasting network stations in regular and Hi-Def versions, your guide will specify the HD channels, third make sure you have the right receiver, an older surround receiver may not pass enough bandwidth to produce a good quality HD picture, And finally make sure that you have an HDTV set, don’t assume because it is a flat panel that is automatically HD.

When I set up my last TV and Stereo System, no one in the house could run the thing. What can I do to change this?

Good News, most well designed systems include the use of a programmed remote that
will allow everyone in the family to use your new system with ease.

In the past in wall speakers were strictly for convenience, In the last few years speaker companies have offered higher performing in wall speakers that not only rival those in traditional boxes, but allow you to place them where they will perform best. Additionally you can place them in rooms where a “box” speaker would take away from the cosmetic appeal of a room. I have in wall in my home and they sound great. - Murray

I am considering the purchase of a new HDTV set , to hang on my wall. Bud, Novi MI

In addition to the set , you will need , a quality wall mount, the appropriate cables for sending the HDTV signal to the set, and power pulled through the wall to plug the set into. You should have a licensed electrician do that for you. You should consult with a local A/V installer to see if your house holds any surprises in store before starting your project.= Murray
