Hi C Jefferson, The horror stories do have merit if you hire the wrong company. More importantly the team members I recommend are all licensed and insured. I would like you to call Sterling Environmental Duct cleaning (888) 992-1200 who takes care of our viewers east of Telegraph or A-1 Duct Cleaning (800) 382-8256 who takes care of our viewers west of Telegraph. Both these companies do excellent work, and that's why I recommend them. They also, take all the precautions necessary not to dirty or damage your furniture, carpeting or other parts of your house. Part of the process is taping up all your ducts then proceeding with a very regimented process. This will usually take around 2 1/2 hours. As a closing thought, I have used these companies on my own home as well as family members over the years and I can say, they do great work. In closing, please do not hesitate to contact me again for further assistance by email. Starting this Thursday, November 9th, at noon, I will be broadcasting a live web chat at wxzy.com. This webcast will have email as well as live operators to take telephone calls on the air. Thank you, Murray Gula Team Host.
Hi Brenda, I’ve never been asked that question, but I think it's a great one. On the average It usually takes up to three hours to complete the job, I think this is one of the most important improvements any one can do for our homes. It should be done every 3 years. Your health depends on it. - Murray
They use power vacuum trucks designed specifically for duct cleaning. I know because I had my own house ducts cleaned several years ago. Before we had the job done, everyone was complaining about not feeling good all the time, running eyes, coughing and sneezing. It is a proven fact that dirty ducts contribute to chronic respiratory problems caused by dirty ducts in our home. I recommend cleaning your homes ducts at least between 3 to 5 years, more frequently if you have pets in the home. Its best to have your ducts sanitized at the same time your ducts are cleaned. Thanks for the great question. - Murray http://blogs.scripps.com/wxyz/askmurray/air_duct_cleaning/
The most likely indicator of a serious problem with the ductwork with in floor installation is water and/or sand got in the ductwork. You will have to have a contractor reline the ductwork with a new process that is just coming to this area. I will check to see if the company I’m thing about has started repairing underground ductwork as yet. - Murray
